Drone applications pop up like crazy: it is good to see all these ideas, eg. this week there was an announcement of a AED drone. One of the areas is the agricultural drone development. With one of the team members the idea is to go through the applications in agriculture of a hexacopter that can carry a substantial payload. The idea is that this one also has a max weight of 150 kg, including payload.
As with last update we know that batteries progress will be fast. In a discussion with a large aircraft manufacturer manager who also had such crafts in mind, we discussed the issue of range. Indeed range would be an issue of concern for the short term. There are different range extenders for cars and trucks. Let's have a look with 2 examples:
Pulley wheels and belts arrived
The first test pulley belt system has arrived and with the drawings the wheels can now be customized for the job.
Avianaerospace is a R&D company involved in all sorts of innovative projects. Working on an agricultural drone (ie for agri purposes), they saw the article on our Humming Man Project at SUASNEWS and decided to come along: they will develop such man drone too and keep close contact and cooperation with our project. We hope more teams will go and start!
This week we established contact with a parachute certification and repair business in the Netherlands. It was quite interesting to explore the possibilities of cooperation. Will keep you informed.
With Marko we went back and forth over the belt drive and think it can be made as light weight as required. We can start on Monday to adapt the pulleys and make the structure.
