Dear All, it is a delight to be able to work on my blog again after 2 weeks in Uganda, where the website system does not allow it's software to be used!
Back from Uganda
In Uganda work has finished and will contact the journalist who wants to promote the flying donkeys.
Had a nice chat with a guy who worked at MIT as a pastor and now supporting training and education in Uganda. Think that that is what is immediately needed for African rural children, as their parents often cannot or do not want to pay school fees. It is not acceptable that human rights on education are not respected and that there is a lost generation in the making.
Plan B almost completed
We will first make the belt drive and then test it on a rig to see its performance. And test data like amps or kW, trust heat development, cooling aspects, acceleration, vibrations, etc.. In case of trouble that cannot be solved easily, we now have elaborated plan B. It will be using 12 e motors using direct drive propellers. The props will be contra-rotating and will use 2 motors at the end point in stead of the one with belt drive. Charles E Kirk, an active drone builder explained that contra rotating props are functioning without a problem using such system, but distance between props should not be to close for sound and resonance. see his vimeo: http://vimeo.com/30682403
We can easily test such combination as well. So as frame for Plan B is not much different, we can now easily adapt the frame drawing as well.
Contact with NLR
We have got some more interesting contacts with NLR for different issues. We can now aim to discuss the advancement of under 400 ft air space control, etc..
Done, and now making them starting Monday.
So as of now full speed again!
